More Than Survival Guide
BloggedIn-N&N has been blessed to have some wonderful bloggers offer their time and effort as hosts of the various featured columns. One such blogger is Shera of A Frog in My Soup who who will be co-hosting Highlights. She’s offered some words of wisdom below. We’ll all get to know more about Shera in the weeks to come but based on this post, I think we’re all in for a treat.
To Live ~ A Mommy Reality Check
Do you ever find yourself just surviving each day? We go into each new week with the best of intentions, our list is a mile long and our children are going to learn more and eat better than ever before. Then life happens! A child gets sick, a project is overdue, money is tight, the laundry piles up like never before. You are not alone!
If I didn’t know better I would say this was a large family issue, but I struggled with it when I had only three children (feel free to laugh at that statement, my sister will). I could blame it on so many things, but the trick is to move on and do what I can.
The point is that every mom wants to live life to the fullest! We don’t want to just survive from day to day, hour to hour! We want to plant seeds and water them and see them grow, right? I for one think we really need more time in each day, but since that isn’t likely to happen I have to come up with another solution.
There are so many “good” things I can fill up my day with, but I have found that the number one thing I can do to help myself is to spend a little time each day with God! I am not giving any set rules here since there have been many times when all I had time for was to lift up prayers throughout my day. I have found though that the days I make time to pray and read the Word I am refreshed and able to handle more through my day. If nothing else, I ask Him for wisdom to guide me through each day to care for the necessary things in life.
Where are you at today? Are you finding yourself in survival mode? Or living life to the fullest? I for one am tired of mere survival and believing for much more!

I so am in survival mode most of my days. I think a lot of this comes from being the mom of a 2 1/2 year old. It seems that I can prioritize so many things and God often times falls to the bottom. Our pastor preached a sermon last night from the 4th chapter of James and encouraged us to live each day to the fullest, keeping our tongue in check and do all things for the glory of God. This is my goal in the coming weeks…to get out of survival mode and get to into “living for God” mode.
