Our RSS Feed, What You Should Know
Note: This is the second in a series of posts that explain the what’s, why’s, and how-to’s of the Family-Friendly Blogs Network. If you have not already done so, we suggest you also read Part 1.
Last week we discussed how to become a member of the Family-Friendly Blogs Network and some of the ways you can promote your blog. As promised today we’ll discuss feeds, both our and yours. If you find you still have questions after reading please do not hesitate to ask them in the comment section below.
Now we know that this series began with Gibee’s question about feeds so I just know she’s here reading today. (Hi, Gibee!!) Gibee has been a part of the network since it began in 2006 as the Family-Friendly Blogroll. In the last two years we have added a few facets and turned it into a network.
One of these additions is our Feedburner RSS Feed. This is a group feed provided through Feedburner. All of those blogs that are in our directory really should be in our RSS feed. If you already have an account at Feedburner.com and have burned your feed then all you need to do is accept the invitation sent to you. If you’ve never heard of Feeedburner, you’ll need to sign up, burn your feed, and then accept the invitation. And if you never received an invitation, let me know through the contact form and I’ll be more than happy to send you one.
If you look down in the lower right hand corner of this blog you will see a listing of all of the blogs that have already joined the RSS feed. You can view the blogs latest posts and even navigate to each blog through the widget. So basically by accepting the invitation you are adding your feed to all the others In our RSS feed and making it a one-stop shop for blog readers to read your posts.
If you need more information on burning your feed and what that entails feel free to read, Feedburner, what’s up with that?
And if you still have questions I’m here, just ask. ![]()

That’s a VERY COOL widget! Thanks for the info.
I signed up for Feedburner a couple of weeks ago, burned a feed, and my blog doesn’t show. What have I done wrong?
I guess what I was confused about, is I thought having the blogroll listed was the same thing, but I guess you needed this RSS Network feed. Am I right?
I’m BURNED!! Did it a couple weeks ago, and I even have a button on my blog now! Wooohooo…
Lauren — thanks for writing this. It will be very helpful for a lot of people, including myself. And like Laurel, I thought having the blogroll listed was the same thing — it isn’t.
So — now I need an invite to accept. Anyone? Anyone?
It’s on the way!
